How to Motivate Polish Women to Achieve a Satisfied and Effective Worker?
Motivating workers is exerting an influence, giving a result in the form of enlarging engagement in the accomplished work. An effect of correct activity in this area should be a personal interest of the worker in the success of the company, a feeling of mutual responsibility for its achievements and pride from the successes of the organization.
We can divide motivation to work as a positive reaction as well as negative. Positive motivation includes all kinds of rewards for well done work in the form of: pension raise, premiums, distinction or bonds for goods. We talk about the negative motivation when the female worker is punished in some way for poorly done work. Nagging, reminders, passing up promotions or moving away from certain tasks, react immediately and encourage the female worker to increase effort for the sake of the organization. In the long run it actually brings a drop in productivity, decreasing engagement and lowering self-esteem. One needs to be careful with using this form of pressure on the worker, as not to obtain an opposite effect from the one being aimed at.
The main mistake in thinking about motivating is the conviction that encouraging to more productivity connects always with increasing rewards and carries with it a constant rise of costs. Sure, engaging in work is in a prominent point adequate to the level of obtained wages. The amount of the pension, premiums, and financial awards are a serious motor of human actions. Not in the least, pluses are also important for Polish women, such as ensuring medical care, meals for workers or tickets to the sport centers. However the privileges should always match the individual needs. Not all workers though would be satisfied with the same kind of motivating methods. For example, allowing a parking space to a person driving to work through public transportation would not be a solution fitting her needs.
It is worth already during the qualification interview, to test out what are the interests and what awakens the increasing productivity of the recruited Polish woman. If right away in the beginning she will make a point that she wants to grow in the company, she is an ambitious person and thinks about promotion for higher positions, this cannot be forgotten in the future years of co-working. In this case, a reward can be assigning such a person to key works for the activity of company or increasing a level of independence in performing duties.
A very important item is also a positive atmosphere in the place of work. Polish women value good relations with other people, they more gladly come to work where the organizational culture support relations among people. A good boss should take care that the surroundings be friendly and workers respect each other and relate to each other in a proper manner.
Also periodical grading talks should be utilized for a reason to test the workers happiness. It is worth it to listen carefully, what the worker would change in her place of work, from which type of rewards for input into the development of the company she would be the most happy with. An often mistake of the employers during the talk is concentrating on pointing out those under supervision their mistakes. The positive sides of the worker are most often mentioned fast and swiftly, treated like proverbial “drop of honey in a barrel of birch tar”, entrance to detailed counting of under achievements. In the meantime the worker, whose efforts are spotted and rightly praised, most often feel positively built up and motivated to further efforts for the concern of the employer. Polish women value praises from the mouths of supervisors, they are hard workers and are trying to obtain a positive opinion. Often also the praise under the address of the worker is a "self fulfilling prophecy." The worker, who knows that she is trustworthy of the employer, thinks positive and obtains good results at work.
So the proverbial “handshake of the boss” becomes a very efficient cheering for the hired personnel. If however the rewards do not obtain the height of the ensuring reasonable living conditions, even the most honest and warmest praises won’t detain a good worker in the company. Another essential issue, which a good employer should not omit, is abiding with working rights, avoiding cheering and creating, if possible, a feeling of work stability.
